My daughter is getting married in two days. I’m filled with emotions. Praying for the day, praying for my daughter, the groom, the couple and their marriage. Praying that I will be who they need me to be, but mostly who HE needs me to be. So it is with a heart full of joy and anticipation, that I offer one of my favorite hymns this week as a prayer for both my husband and my daughter’s future husband. Be Thou My Vision is the hymn for him this week.
Be Thou My Vision
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Father God, I pray that You will be the Lord of our grooms’ hearts.
I pray that You will be what is most important in their lives.
I ask that You will be on their minds and in their hearts first thing in the morning and the last thing at night.
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Lord, be their wisdom and their true Word.
Let Your Word be their reference point for all decisions, that they might please You.
Walk with them, Father and help them to walk with You.
Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.
Father, be their shield and Your Word their sword.
Help them to act and react in dignity.
Give them those ah-hah moments when they realize the delight of Your fellowship.
Shelter them in life’s storms and give them mountain top views into spiritual realms.
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
Lord Jesus, be their treasure.
Let them seek Your praise and if there be any wealth stored on earth, may it be things we cannot see.
Enrich their lives with the gifts of the Spirit.
Let wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, interpretation of tongues, discernment, administration and service be their inheritance. 1 Corinthians 12: 8-10
Give them an abundance of the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Fill their lives with love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23
High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
Be our Vision, Lord, forever. Be our joy. Fill our hearts with things of Heaven. Let us worship You as Ruler of all.
But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 3:13
Have a beautiful week, brides and brides-to-be!
